 North America's fourth largest book printer is closing down. Edwards Brothers Malloy of Ann Arbor Michigan is not taking any more orders and will be closing after finishing orders all work in progress. They did about $100 million US in sales with over 500 employees. Of the top 20 book printers in North America 4 are in Canada. All the Canadian book printers contacted said they competed with Edwards Brothers Mallory in some way.

The book printing market is a North American market with printers on both sides of the border competing with each other. The top book printers in Canada are Transcontinental, Friesens, Webcom and Lowe-Martin. The closing of Edwards Brothers Mallory has come as a complete surprise to almost every one in the book printing business. The 125 year old company appeared to be well run, up to date equipment and well respected by all this Canadian competitors. They were considered to be one of the more forward thinking printer. They even had on demand printing equipment in larger book publishers and had connections with major book publishers around the world.
