Fespa’s flagship event, alongside co-located events, European Sign Expo and Sportswear Pro, had been due to take place at the IFEMA Madrid from 24 to 27 March 2020. The events will now take place at the same venue on 6-8 October 2020. Xerox has acquired two leading services and technology providers, Altodigital and ITEC Connect. Altodigital and ITEC are both  in managed print services and specialists in IT services, an area into which Xerox is rapidly expanding .This is the fourth  acquisition targeting the  SMB market this year. In January, Xerox announced the purchase of Arena Group, which provides office technology, software, solutions and services. Canon CEO Fujio Matarai is quoted as saying that a takeover by Xerox would create a company rivalling Canon’s own business. HP buys laser printer components from Canon, and is one of the Japanese manufacturer’s biggest customers. Only essential services will be allowed to stay open and those companies that supply them. Packaging and direct mail have been named  directly and because the printing industry supplies almost all of the business listed as essential, it is assumed all printers are included . PrintCAN has received notices from a lot of printers telling their customers they will be remaining open. Trico Sold to Former General Manager http://www.printcan.com/news/2020/20200319057.shtml Wed, 18 Mar 2020 20:23:22 EST Michael Hothi new President and owner of Trico Packaging and Print Solutions Michael Hothi, the former general manager of Trico Evolution, purchased the business’s assets in a deal that closed in late February. The company has a  a staff of 45 , three 40 sheet fed presses, 2 stitches, a perfect  binder and  mailing equipment . Sales are in the $6 to $8 million range. Michael Hothi was brought on as Sales Manager in 2018 , later became General Manager and then bought the company in 2020. The company has been renamed Trico Packaging and Print Solutions. Production of “Primefire” and “very-large-format presses ” will be stopped. In digital printing, the market for the Primefire 106 product has grown much more slowly than expected . Similarly, in sheetfed offset printing, the very-large-format presses including the 56" and 64"  range has fallen  well short of  targets. It appears the slowdown in new equipment sales made it difficult for them to keep going . They had a staff of around 10 and primarily sold in Quebec and Ontario. They serviced what they sold and had several mechanics .
